DOD Delete Service in Cincinnati

If you own a GM vehicle with a 5.3L, 6.0L, or 6.2L V8, your engine may be living on borrowed time. GM’s Displacement on Demand (DOD) also called Active Fuel Management (AFM) is a cylinder deactivation system notorious for causing premature engine wear, excessive oil consumption, and costly lifter failures.

At Top Speed Cincy in Cincinnati, Ohio, we perform professional DOD delete services that eliminate these issues for good and give your engine the full-time V8 performance it was built for.

What Is a DOD Delete?

GM’s DOD system deactivates 4 of your engine’s 8 cylinders during light-load driving to improve fuel economy. While it sounds efficient in theory, the system is susceptible to carbon contamination and places excessive stress on the lifters during activation, leading to high oil consumption and loss of power over time.

A DOD delete removes the problematic components including the AFM lifters, valley cover, and associated hardware and replaces them with standard parts, allowing your engine to run on all cylinders, all the time.

Signs You May Need a DOD Delete

Don’t ignore the warning signs. These symptoms often mean your AFM system is already causing damage that will only get worse over time.

Excessive oil consumption between changes

Your engine burns through oil faster than normal, a common early warning sign of AFM lifter wear.

Ticking or tapping noise from the engine

A rhythmic tick at startup or idle often points to failing AFM lifters struggling under cylinder deactivation stress.

Check engine light related to cylinder misfires

Misfire codes on DOD-equipped engines frequently trace back to collapsed lifters or compromised valvetrain components.

Loss of power or rough idle

Noticeable hesitation, stumbling, or uneven idle can result from the DOD system misfiring during cylinder deactivation cycles.

High mileage GM truck or SUV showing wear signs

Vehicles over 80,000 miles are prime candidates — AFM components degrade over time and become increasingly unreliable.

Lifter Failure or Recent Engine Repairs

If you've already replaced lifters once, the DOD system will likely cause the same failure again without a proper delete.

Our Projects

REAL RESULTS. PROVEN PERFORMANCE.

From lifter failures to full builds, we turn problem vehicles into powerhouses. This 2018 6.2L Chevy Tahoe came in with common DOD-related issues and left with 480 horsepower, 470 ft. lbs. of torque, and over 100 horsepower gained. See what a proper DOD delete combined with a full performance build looks like.
